Government Accountant

About the Role

We are searching for a committed Government Accountant to assist a national finance ministry. Your work will support a project backed by a multilateral development bank, following U.S. governmental accounting principles. You will work in tandem with domestic colleagues and government financial personnel to uphold fiscal transparency. Your contributions will involve audit prep, reconciliations, and process optimization to verify that all financial documentation remains audit-ready and compliant. This role offers a seasoned accountant the chance to engage in important governmental financial initiatives from a completely remote location.

Requirements

• You need a minimum of one year of direct experience utilizing Bisan ERP financial modules.
• You must have at least three years of accounting experience applying U.S. GAAP standards for offshore teams or U.S.-based clients.
• You are required to have a robust understanding of GASB fund accounting, specifically regarding interfund balances and proprietary funds.
• You must demonstrate the capability to clear aged reconciliation backlogs.
• You should hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field or accounting.
• You need advanced skills in Excel, specifically regarding lookup functions and pivot tables.
• You must be proficient in English, both verbal and written, and capable of articulating accounting processes to clients.
• You must maintain a dependable home office, including high-speed internet with power and connectivity redundancies.
• It is preferred that you hold a Philippine CPA license or are pursuing a CMA or U.S. CPA.
• Previous experience with public-sector ERP systems or federal grant compliance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• You will reconcile fiscal year balances and resolve significant reconciliation backlogs, specifically comparing Bisan general ledger accounts with subsidiary ledgers and bank statements.
• You will create transparent, reviewable workpapers for all reconciliations, investigate reconciling items, and write suggested journal entries for client authorization.
• You will generate reconciled year-end trial balances appropriate for audit and financial statement purposes.
• You will create thorough audit schedules and support efforts to address auditor requests.
• You will instruct client personnel on how to generate reports and record journal entries within the Bisan platform.
• You will attend internal team check-ins and weekly meetings with the client.
• You will track open-items lists meticulously and supply the Engagement Manager with frequent progress reports to guarantee deadlines are achieved.
