Inpatient Coding Supervisor – Mid-Shift

About the Role

This leadership position is centered on leading and refining the output of an inpatient coding group. In this virtual capacity, you will handle daily functions to guarantee that output and precision goals are hit on a regular basis. You will act as a primary point of contact, handling task lists, verifying that Service Level Agreements are respected, and assigning tasks based on coder availability and account urgency. By building a supportive setting, you will be instrumental in upholding superior performance standards and assisting with the career growth of your personnel. Furthermore, you will focus on increasing efficiency and ensuring regulatory adherence within the unit. Your duties involve tracking performance indicators, performing routine evaluations, and working alongside quality control groups to resolve error patterns and launch correction methods. You will also participate in workflow enhancements, assist with automation programs, and ensure your staff stays current with changing coding mandates. Using analytical findings and consistent communication with management and client partners, you will guarantee that every inpatient coding task is performed with accuracy, honesty, and a dedication to excellence.

Requirements

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health information management, or an equivalent discipline.
• Hold a valid CCS or CIC certification.
• Minimum of three years of practical experience with inpatient DRG coding, particularly utilizing MS-DRG and ICD-10-CM/PCS frameworks.
• At least one to two years of experience in a leadership role with a track record of coaching staff, handling disputes, and overseeing performance.
• Proficient in DRG validation, POA reporting, UHDDS regulations, and various software encoders.
• Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite with strong abilities in KPI monitoring and trend evaluation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, sharp problem-solving skills, and high ethical standards.
• Available for a Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM work schedule, capable of supporting interactions across multiple time zones.
• Maintain a smartphone or electronic device capable of performing multifactor authentication to meet security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the inpatient coding staff to guarantee that all output and quality standards are reached.
• Oversee task queues and cycle times, while managing account issues and delegating work.
• Perform employee evaluations, offer useful critique, and execute improvement plans as needed.
• Ensure all coding procedures adhere strictly to ICD-10-CM/PCS rules, UHDDS regulations, and specific client needs.
• Partner with quality assurance departments to detect constraints, minimize redundant work, and assist in teaching staff new processes and automated systems.
• Serve as a liaison for client partners concerning functional updates and data reports.
• Attend executive strategy discussions and monitor coding shifts to deliver prompt instruction to the team.
• Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA-equivalent standards regarding the protection of patient privacy and PHI.
