The Internal Auditor is a key team member tasked with conducting independent evaluations of financial and operational controls. You will manage risk assessments, develop audit strategies, and execute thorough testing across a range of business operations, including a significant real estate portfolio. This position is entirely remote, requiring you to coordinate with international teams using advanced digital communication platforms.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a relevant discipline.
• Minimum of five years of professional experience in external audit, internal audit, SOX compliance, or public accounting at a regional or Big 4 firm.
• Solid understanding of the COSO framework, US GAAP, and standard testing methodologies.
• Ability to create professional-grade audit documentation and reports suitable for external review.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, specifically regarding data reconciliation and pivot tables.
• Capacity to manage various projects at once, operate autonomously, and uphold high ethical standards with professional skepticism.
• Professional certifications such as CISA, CIA, or CPA are preferred.
• Prior experience with data analytics software, ASC 842, and real estate platforms like MRI or Yardi is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent assessments regarding the design and functional effectiveness of operational and financial controls.
• Contribute to the development of the yearly audit strategy based on risk assessments.
• Facilitate audit walkthroughs, select testing samples, and document findings in workpapers that comply with IIA Global Internal Audit Standards.
• Evaluate critical financial areas such as cash management, the financial close process, procure-to-pay workflows, and intercompany activities.
• Support testing for SOX compliance and execute real estate audits, including property-level controls, revenue management, and lease administration.
• Examine IT general controls, analyze the segregation of duties, verify adherence to loan covenants and regulatory guidelines, and support internal investigations.
• Draft detailed audit reports containing recommendations, monitor progress on remediation efforts with relevant stakeholders, and communicate results to executive management and Audit Committees.
