With more than 20 years of industry experience, the firm uses modern analytics and technology to decrease overhead and improve service quality. They are looking for a remote Medical Coder to manage documentation accuracy and claim compliance, working alongside internal departments to uphold high standards of operational excellence.

Requirements

• Maintain a valid coding certification, such as a CPC.
• Have one to three years of experience in the medical coding field.
• Prior background in same-day surgery or gastroenterology is preferred.
• A degree is not mandatory, but candidates with a background in medical technology, nursing, or physical therapy are preferred.
• Show strong competency in ICD-9 or ICD-10 coding.
• Maintain strict privacy and confidentiality of sensitive patient data.
• Possess excellent data entry abilities with a minimum speed of 50 to 60 accurate keystrokes per minute.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills when sharing coding knowledge with colleagues.
• Possess a reliable remote work setup, including a stable internet connection and a secondary backup solution.

Responsibilities

• Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on rendered services and clinical records.
• Ensure correct modifier usage and code sequencing while adhering to regulatory and payer policies.
• Analyze medical charts to clarify missing information through provider inquiries and resolve coding discrepancies or denied claims.
• Perform data abstraction during chart reviews to facilitate clean claim processing.
• Meet specific benchmarks for coding accuracy and output volume.
• Collaborate with accounts receivable, authorization, and billing staff.
• Engage in client or internal quality audits.
• Offer guidance and coding expertise to billing personnel.
