Senior Advisor – Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor focused on Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) to spearhead strategy and technical direction throughout the East Asia area. This crucial position drives social inclusion goals to ensure organizational structures and initiatives successfully combat the origins of poverty and inequality. You will direct the regional strategy, integrating GEDSI concepts into development and humanitarian work to enhance the lives of children and at-risk populations. As a member of our international humanitarian staff, you will drive systemic transformation by incorporating inclusive approaches into our communication, advocacy, and policy frameworks. This role requires building alliances with relevant stakeholders, such as groups for disabled individuals and women-led organizations. You will also bolster our status as a thought leader in this field by producing data, fostering innovation, and overseeing technical consultants to guarantee that our efforts remain rights-based, adaptive, and transformative.

Requirements

• At least five years of professional experience in technical and strategic leadership within humanitarian or international development, focusing on disability, gender equality, and social inclusion.
• A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree in public policy, international development, gender studies, or a related field is highly desired.
• Proven ability to coach, influence, and facilitate, alongside the skill to perform GEDSI assessments and apply outcomes to project monitoring and design.
• Background in implementing policies, managing organizational change, and positioning initiatives with donors.
• Fluency in English and the capacity to fulfill job duties remotely from your home country.
• Familiarity with international frameworks like the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, experience working with faith-based groups, and the skill to apply disaggregated data to practical policy strategies are considered advantages.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute a GEDSI regional strategy that supports the organization's child welfare goals and internal policies.
• Provide technical expertise during the design of proposals and programs, ensuring the inclusion of risk mitigation plans, change theories, and relevant metrics.
• Enhance the abilities of partners and technical staff through mentorship, workshops, and the creation of practice communities.
• Spearhead data collection and research initiatives, including overseeing evaluations and managing external technical advisors.
• Represent the organization to external stakeholders, such as governmental bodies, UN agencies, and funding networks to advocate for inclusion.
• Direct internal reviews and improvement initiatives to ensure an accessible work environment and the implementation of inclusive, disaggregated data methods like the Washington Group Questions.
