About the Role
This Staff Accountant position focuses on supervising monthly billing operations and revenue recognition across multiple channels. You will manage necessary journal entries and verify the precision of approved new sales contracts. Your tasks include updating revenue and billing figures based on fluctuations in campaign or delivery timelines, handling revenue accruals, and addressing unposted cash items. You will also oversee outstanding collection tasks with account representatives, document commission and bonus accruals, and assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures, such as account reconciliations and audit preparation. Furthermore, you will be responsible for proposing and executing improvements to billing, revenue, and closing workflows by coordinating with the Collections and Sales departments to ensure data integrity.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a comparable field of study.
- Demonstrate at least two years of relevant accounting experience within a United States-based organization.
- Possess strong competence in revenue recognition, billing, month-end closing, and the creation of accruals and journal entries.
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Google Sheets or Excel.
- Maintain familiarity with Salesforce Certinia and payment platforms like Stripe (preferred).
- Experience calculating sales bonuses or commissions is considered a competitive advantage.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the monthly billing and revenue recognition cycles while maintaining accurate journal entries for all financial activities.
- Review and authorize new sales agreements while generating corresponding revenue and billing schedules.
- Adjust billing records whenever campaign schedules are modified and conduct thorough reviews of all financial tasks before closing periods.
- Record revenue accruals and manage incoming cash flows across various payment methods.
- Execute proactive management of active collection projects.
- Compute sales commissions and provide assistance during all period-end reconciliations and the preparation of materials for audits.
