About the Role
We are seeking International Humanitarian Law Advisors to assist with a project centered on the strict implementation of IHL and human rights standards. Requirements
- You should be a senior practitioner, consultant, or academic with established expertise in international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
- You must be highly proficient in the Law of Armed Conflict, human rights policies, and standards for protecting civilians, with a professional history in advisory, consulting, or educational positions.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills are mandatory, along with a demonstrated history of recording and evaluating intricate legal situations, such as ambiguous or borderline cases.
- A history of operational advisory work with entities such as the UN, the ICRC, or international tribunals is highly advantageous, as is any prior experience with AI evaluation or governance initiatives.
Responsibilities
- You will create and draft edge-case scenarios involving international humanitarian law, the protection of civilians, proportionality, and forbidden actions.
- You will examine and confirm legal boundaries within project categories to guarantee they match existing legal standards and evaluate AI outputs to check for sound legal logic, recognition of constraints, and the management of legal ambiguity.
- Additionally, you are expected to detect and mark instances where the system is unnecessarily hesitant to answer valid questions or lacks sufficient caution in areas involving civilian safety.
- You will also record and study complex scenarios, work with project groups to improve assessment procedures, and provide organized feedback to guide the improvement of these models.
