Materials Scientist (Nanoparticle Sizing & Lot Release)

About the Role

This position seeks a Materials Scientist to lend technical expertise to an initiative focused on evaluating cutting-edge nanomaterials. You will apply your domain-specific knowledge to assist in the training of upcoming AI models, influencing their reasoning and learning capabilities. You do not need prior AI experience, as the primary requirement is your technical skill in characterizing nanomaterials. You will be tasked with conducting exact nanoparticle sizing, analyzing size distributions, and overseeing lot release qualifications using Scanning Electron Microscopy and Transmission Electron Microscopy. Your role requires independent, professional analysis involving manual image calibration, thresholding, and morphological evaluation. All tasks must be performed manually to ensure conclusions reflect human expertise instead of automated systems. Excellent communication and documentation skills are required to interpret sophisticated micrographs and explain your professional judgments to stakeholders.

Requirements

• You should possess deep expertise in nanomaterial characterization, particularly with Scanning Electron Microscopy and Transmission Electron Microscopy.
• You must have proven practical experience in determining particle size distributions, sizing nanoparticles, and assessing lot release requirements.
• You need a solid grasp of reference material qualification and quality control protocols.
• You must be able to conduct manual image analysis, including calibration, accurate thresholding, and morphological interpretation, without relying on AI software.
• You need superior verbal and written communication skills for collaboration and reporting purposes.
• A background in analytical laboratory work or scientific consulting is considered beneficial.

Responsibilities

• You will manually interpret and analyze SEM and TEM micrographs to evaluate nanoparticle morphology and dimensions.
• You will be responsible for defining and recording particle size distributions with consistency and high precision.
• You will set and communicate quality control standards for lot-release acceptance based on reference cases.
• You will create comprehensive reports detailing your findings, procedures, and suggestions for material qualification.
• You will validate measurement methods through manual cross-checking and calibration against reference information.
• You will engage in technical reviews to share your knowledge regarding nanomaterial characterization.
