We are looking for a committed remote, part-time Medical Billing Specialist to assist healthcare clients in the United States. Requirements
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in U.S. insurance accounts receivable follow-up and denial resolution.
- Proven background in chiropractic billing, with a strong preference for individuals skilled in ChiroTouch.
- Comprehensive knowledge of government health plans, commercial insurance, and the appeal and reconsideration process.
- Competency in navigating insurance websites and various payer portals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, plus the capacity to manage numerous accounts autonomously.
- Access to a stable internet connection and an appropriate professional remote work environment.
- Understanding of Idaho insurance plans and chiropractic coding standards, including CMT codes, the AT modifier for Medicare, therapy codes, and modifier 25, is a major advantage.
- Availability to perform duties during Mountain Time business hours.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate accounts receivable aging reports and conduct active follow-up on claims outstanding for at least 30 days.
- Communicate with insurance payers via phone, websites, and online portals to determine claim status and finalize resolution.
- Examine remittance codes and denials to determine the fundamental reasons for payment rejection.
- Draft and file corrected claims, appeals, and reconsiderations along with required evidence.
- Monitor the progress of appeals until a final determination is reached and report unresponsive payers as required.
- Resolve denied evaluation and exam claims, specifically focusing on medical necessity and modifier issues.
- Recognize common denial patterns and provide feedback to practices to enhance front-end procedures.
- Record all follow-up actions accurately inside the practice management software.
- Uphold strict patient data privacy and comply with all HIPAA regulations at all times.
